Letting go of the past doesn’t mean you forget. Rather, it means you are not living that reality anymore. Today’s purpose is now your reality.

The divine life-force energy flowing from us and around us maintains the reality we create. Goodwill, a gracious mindset, and a friendly attitude enhance positive energy and creative solutions when we are navigating life’s situations, even the painful ones. We must trust that everything that comes our way is offering an opportunity to change, learn, receive, give, share, or gain greater understanding and perspective. We know that loss, grief, and death are part of living, and therefore, loss is part of the package of being here on this planet. For this reason, loss is not our enemy. Consequently, it should not be described as a bad or harmful experience.

Approaching every situation with the heart and mindset of goodwill, regardless of the stressful energy it creates, changes our intent and the way we experience the outcome. (Do not overly identify with or invest too much energy in situations or feelings that are temporary. They are just passing through.) This skill of emotional wisdom is essential to healing the greater issues facing humanity. But let us start in the areas we actually have control over: our daily interactions with others and life. If we cannot master this skill in our personal relationships, extending it to the global community will be impossible. The change, the hope, and the healing begin with the individual.

There are many assumptions and misunderstandings about extending goodwill and grace to oneself and others in any situation. Some may assume that goodwill suggests letting people get away with inappropriate behavior, or forcing themselves to like someone they don’t want to like. No! Goodwill and divine love do not require victimhood, or even us liking one another. I am pretty sure God doesn’t like us most of the time, and yet he/she continues to support us, forgive us repeatedly, and love us, despite our inappropriate behavior. The Divine does not withhold love, even when we give him/her good reason to do so.

You are a piece of divine energy. You have the same capacity to rise above your own ego and extend grace to others even when their behavior is dishonorable, and to want nothing but good for others. Extending goodwill and grace means acting with honor and integrity. It means taking your time. There is no need to be protective of what is yours. What is yours will be, and what isn’t yours is not meant for you—at least, not right now.

Divine timing is a real thing. Honor means rising above your fears and only interacting with the energy, choice, action, or inaction presented today with integrity and patience. The outcome—the future of the situation—will be streamlined with time. There are larger forces interacting with your life path. Earthbound things have their own rhythm and take care of themselves.

Every guru on the planet talks about integrating the divine self with the ego/human self. Well, my friends, this requires us to extend the love and grace of the Divine to others, despite the objections of our ego. After all, the Divine extends it to us. At the very least, we can practice extending goodwill and grace to one another by learning how to love without ego.

The ability to connect to the divine energy that generates the manifestation of miracles and magic depends on the practice and mastership of emotional wisdom. Living well isn’t free. It requires self-mastery, goodwill, grace, and love, and that is a lot of work. Expressing the divine light within is an ongoing practice and a way of life, but if we are going to heal ourselves and thrive even with life’s hardships, like stress or grief, it’s an essential skill to master.

OUR CAPACITY TO LOVE AND THE LIFE-FORCE ENERGY IT CONTAINS ARE OUR TRUE POWER.
