Cozy, Christmas Chili

I was thinking this morning about paying bills, my busy schedule and the gloomy weather.  Today is cloudy and cold.  A winter storm is forecasted for tomorrow, so the air is extra bone-chilling, and I am dreading the coming winds tonight. None of this sounds like a lot of fun, but like I do every morning, I take the time to sit down and meditate.

I have been meditating for over thirty years, and I use my time with the Divine for everything from personal healing, calming my nerves, focusing my mind, guidance, comfort, and so on. As I began my meditation, I noticed that my I was feeling some sadness, but once I entered into the light, I was reminded of the love and goodness that fills all life. This light, this love, feels like Christmas to me.

I stayed in the loving light for about an hour before I came back to regular reality, bills, and cold weather. However, the meditation time did shift my focus like it usually does, and I wanted to enjoy my day as well as fulfill my obligations.  I wanted to focus on the goodness of life, because the time goes by so fast.

Enjoying the goodness of life is often in the small simple things, and these small pleasures overtime, generate more positive energy shared by all.  So, I thought, how could I embrace this cold, bill paying day? Then it came to me, chili.  I have all of the ingredients to make yummy, crockpot chili.

This is a small thing, but so enjoyable. The house gets to smell of warm spices all day.  The crockpot does all the work, and there is nothing like a hot bowl of deliciousness on a cold day to calm the nerves and sooth the soul. The chili is now cooking in the crockpot, the bills are paid, and the house smells wonderful. Let the storm come, I have surrounded myself with goodness, and I hope you do too.

Focusing on the light and goodness,

Dana Glore-Gray
